Healing people heal people
Here's what keeps going through my head and heart in this war-torn moment:
Hurt people hurt people.
I see this abroad, I see this at home.
I see this in ME.
I want an antidote, and I bet you do, too.
Here's what I've got, for now.
Healing people heal people.
I know this has been deeply true for me.
The people in my life who have found their way through darkness
are the ones who bring me so much light.
And where they have healed most profoundly -
in their bodies
in their relationships
in their sovereignty
in their hope and faith in Goodness
in their worthiness
in their self-trust
is where they emanate healing power.
You, my love, are doing this.
You are emanating healing power, wherever it is you are healing.
We must honor this, in such a crucial moment on our planet.
Where hurt people are hurting people.
Where old geopolitical wounds are festering.
Where a sense of powerlessness can spread so quickly,
in our pandemic-ravaged world.
NOW
we can remember that we are co-creators in this life,
and that we must attend to wherever We Ourselves are hurting,
lest we hurt others.
We can remember that we are co-creators in this life,
and that we can choose healing,
and that this healing will ripple out.
During World War II, my grandma chose healing,
and worked as a translator. A connector.
She and my grandpa soon left Poland,
and came to the US - to Chicago - to begin again.
My Gram, who lost everything, somehow became a fount of generosity.
Again and again, she chose healing, and connection, and possibility.
She made my healing work possible.
She made ME possible.
So
in this moment
may we all remember our co-creative power.
May we attend to our own hurts and fears.
May we choose to invest our time, energy, and resources
in That Which Heals.
And may we trust that our healing efforts,
our acts of generosity and commitments to possibility,
will ripple beyond what we can even imagine.
