How to get * a n y t h i n g * done

Happy Sunday, lovelies!

How to get * a n y t h i n g * done, I say?

Yes.

I have the secret.

It is obvious, yet forgettable.

So here we go:

You can accomplish anything -

even HARD things -

step by tiny step.

A story:

Once upon a time, I had a client

who had a whole room

all the way full of stuff.

Stuff her now-grown kids had left behind.

Stuff she'd inherited when her parents passed away.

Stuff that seems to require lots of energy, like

papers to be filed
photographs
receipts
myriad craft supplies

and the like.

This room haunted and taunted her,

inspired feels of shame and blame,

so she mostly left the door closed

and carried the weight of the stuff

in her conscience.

When we began working together,

I shared with her the practice I call

Just 10 Things.

I encouraged her, daily, to go in the room

and handle just 10 things.

Fill a grocery bag with 10 things for donation.

Sort 10 pieces of paper.

Put 10 photos into an album.

Just 10 things.

She did it,

but she also thought it was bullshit.

She thought it was taking too long.

She thought it didn't really make a difference.

HA.

Here is what happened:

as she walked into that room

day after day after day after day after day

she not only started to get it handled,

she also unblocked her power.

Soon, we didn't talk about the room at all.

We talked about the bigger things she wanted to do

with all her newly-accessed power.

One day, I asked her:

Hey, are you still doing Just 10 Things in that room?

And she laughed and said,

Oh! I finished the room long ago.

One day I realized all the important stuff was done

and I called someone to take the rest away.

So.

What undone thing is blocking your energy?

What to-do is taunting/haunting/shaming/blaming you?

What tiny step

(or 5 or 10)

could you take toward handling that shit today?

And what will you do

with all the POWER

you unlock?

Hit reply and tell me.

That can be step one.
