A Spell to Banish Self-Loathing

I bet there are parts of yourself you don’t like all that much. Tendencies you have that you can’t stand.

I bet you have plenty to criticize about yourself, frankly because the white-dominant, heteronormative, ableist patriarchy DEPENDS on it.

This episode gives you a different way to think about and approach those parts, and to shift from self-loathing to self-appreciation.

Mentioned:

Walt Whitman’s iconic line.

Karla McLaren’s helpful approach to anger.

Make Magic:

Sit down and have a written conversation - like, in a notebook - with one of the parts you don’t like so much. Some good questions: “Where did you come from?” / “What do you need?” / “How are you trying to help me?” / “How can I help you?” / “When you _________, I don’t like it. What can we do differently?” and so on.
