Where the wild & precious things are
It's the final day of my Luminous in Taos retreat, and I can't wait to tell you how marvelous it's been.
But first: I want to share with you my own most magical experience this year.
I went for a hike with a friend.
A nighttime hike.
Like, we embarked as the sun was setting. (What?!)
We hiked down down down, into the Rio Grande gorge, to the river.
We arrived at the river banks deep in the gloaming, and sat on a big, flat rock right at the water's edge.
We talked a little, but mostly just looked and listened.
Watched fireflies and stars emerging. Listened to the water rushing.
Words can't begin to conjure my feelings of awe and gratitude and delight and ~ p r e s e n c e ~
All my doubts and worries became so small. Insignificant.
All my dreams, my desires, my courage to make the most of this life expanded. Ignited.
Maybe you've experienced something similar: when traveling, or after sex, or in the ocean, or during a walk through the woods.
It's this infusion of spiritual nourishment. A big plate of soul food.
Until I had it, I didn't even realize how hungry I was for intense experience of the wild-and-preciousness of this life.
But . . . aren't we always hungry for that reminder?
Doesn't it help to remember what really matters in this life?
Isn't it freeing to remember how small and how lucky and how miraculous we are?
I feasted on all these reminders as my friend and I sat on the rock by the river for hours.
And then many deep breaths and two shooting stars later, we hiked back up up up to the road on the ridge above the river. And popped into the car at 11:11. Magic.
Now this is the part where I encourage you to get some of this for yourself.
This is the part where I urge you to ask yourself what brings you alive, what makes you remember you're made of stardust, what connects you with Being.
So yeah, do that.
But also - maybe more importantly -
Find someone who knows where the magic lives.
Who invites you deeper: into your stardom, into yourself.
Who gets you out of your worry and into your life.
Who isn't afraid of the dark.
For me, that someone was my sweet friend.
For you, that someone might just be me.
Love,
Natalie
