Not so fast.
This morning I'm thinking about this phrase:
“Take your time”
and why it soothes me so.
I hear “Take your time” most often from my fabulous massage therapist.
I live about 45min away from her,
across very unpredictable traffic,
and if ever I text her to say I'm running a few minutes late,
she writes back, “Take your time.”
Which I take to mean:
You, my dear, are more important than the clock.
Your wellness is more important than your punctuality.
You can relax. It's better - everything's better - when you relax.
Dear reader:
call to mind, please, any place you are feeling rushed or behind -
any place you feel pressure to Go Faster -
and then read those three blue lines.
The truth is, time is ours for the having.
Time expands when we relax into full presence.
As long as we live, all we have is time . . .
but only when we take it.
love,
Natalie
